DESCRIPTION OF THE GAME:
The Game is a real-world interactive skill-based competition where participants (“Players”) will be required to collect up to thirty-six (36) different “game pieces” and then strategically arrange those game pieces on their online game board prior to each Premiere airing of a Season 1 Episode of
The Sopranos
on A&E. Players will earn points when they collect a game piece (other than starter game pieces) and when the image found on a given game piece that a player has collected appears in a Premiere Season 1 Episode of
The Sopranos
on A&E. See Para. 7 “Scoring” below. A “Premiere Episode” is defined as an original airing on A&E Television Networks during its regularly scheduled time (tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 9PM/8C). A&E will be airing two Premiere Episodes consecutively each week with the exception of week 7, which will only feature Episode 13 (last Episode in Season 1). The Player with the most points at the conclusion of Episode 13 will win the Grand Prize; see Para. 9 “Prizing” below. A complete broadcast schedule is available at
www.aetv.com/thesopranos
.
HOW TO ENTER:
Visit
www.suitcaseofcash.com
between 12:00 AM (ET) on December 1, 2006 and 8:45 PM (ET) on February 21, 2007 (“Registration Period”) to complete and submit an online registration form. Your name, e-mail address, time zone in which you reside (Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific), date of birth and cellular phone number (if you wish to collect game pieces via cell phone) are required on the registration form; you will also be required to create a unique username and password (It is your sole responsibility to keep your password and username private so as to prevent unauthorized use: Sponsor and Administrator disclaim any responsibility for losses, damages or other consequences resulting from unauthorized use of password or username). Players can begin collecting game pieces at 9:00 AM (ET) on December 15, 2006 and up until 8:45 PM (ET) on February 21, 2007. All Players must fill out the online registration form completely to be eligible to participate. A player does not need to collect a game piece before registering. It is recommended that you register PRIOR TO collecting game pieces. The Website’s database clock will be the Official Time Keeper for The Game. Limit one (1) registration/game board per person and one (1) registration/game board per e-mail address.
GAME PIECES:
There will be a total of thirty-six (36) game pieces consisting of fifteen (15) different characters from the Show (i.e., Tony, Carmela, etc.), eleven (11) objects found in the Show (i.e., cigar, glass of wine, Tony’s bathrobe, etc.) and ten (10) settings where the Show takes place (i.e., Satriale’s, Tony’s House, etc.) Each game piece can only be collected once by a player. A complete list of game pieces is available on The Game’s homepage (
www.suitcaseofcash.com
). Upon registration, each player will be given four (4) starter game pieces. All players will receive the same (4) starter game pieces. Some game pieces may only be available for a limited time.
COLLECTING GAME PIECES:
There are three (3) ways that players can collect a game piece. You may collect a game piece using one or more of the following methods. (1) Clicking on a Game specific on-line banner ad or hotlink. Upon clicking on the ad or hotlink players will be directed to the Game’s Homepage where they must complete the online registration form to be eligible to play (if they have not done so already). The game piece will then appear on that player’s game board with their (4) starter pieces. Upon collecting subsequent game pieces via a banner ad or hotlink, players will only be required to provide their unique username and password to add each new game piece to their game board. A Game specific banner ad or hotlink will link directly to www.suitcaseofcash.com and include the title of The Game. Not all A&E banner ads and hotlinks for
The Sopranos
are game-specific and, as such, those banner ads and hotlinks which are not game-specific will not contain game pieces and will not include the title of The Game. (2) Taking a photo of A&E advertising promoting
The Sopranos
such as outdoor signs, magazine ads and retail store displays with the camera phone you registered in The Game and sending it to game@mobot.com. Players will earn credit for each individual game piece once, regardless of submission method. If player submits a game piece via registered camera phone, these players will receive a text (SMS) message after photo submission, confirming which game piece they collected and directing them to register (or sign in, with username and password, if they have already registered) at www.suitcaseofcash.com. If the photo is not recognized by Mobot, the player will receive an error text message from The Game’s server and the game piece will not be deemed to be collected (and will not appear on the player’s game board). Upon confirmation of collection of the game piece, the game piece will then appear on that player’s game board with their starter game pieces and any other game pieces previously collected properly. Existing players who have provided their cell phone numbers as part of their registration will not be required to visit the Homepage to receive credit for collecting a game piece via this method. Players will be charged for each message sent and/or received by their cellular phone according to the terms of their Service Agreement with their wireless carrier (standard or other messaging rates apply). The only messages sent to players via their cellular phone will be confirmation or error text messages regarding “photo” game pieces submitted via this method. All other game communications will be sent to the player’s e-mail address provided at registration. (3) Taking a photo of A&E advertising promoting
The Sopranos
such as outdoor signs, magazine ads and retail store displays with a digital camera and e-mailing it to game@mobot.com from the e-mail address used to register for the Game. Players will receive an e-mail message after photo submission confirming which game piece they collected and directing them to register (or sign in, with username and password, if they have already registered) at www.suitcaseofcash.com. If the photo is not recognized by Mobot the player will receive an error e-mail message from the Game Server and the game piece will not be deemed to be collected (and will not appear on the player’s game board). Upon confirmation of collection of the game piece, the game piece will then appear on that player’s game board with their starter game pieces and any other game pieces previously collected properly.
Game Piece Delay:
Due to the unpredictability of wireless and on-line networks and servers there may be lags between when a game piece is submitted, the player’s receipt of confirmation of collection (or the error text message), and, if collection of game piece is confirmed, when the game piece appears on a player’s game board. On non-episode days players can expect a lag time of between one (1) and sixty (60) minutes between the submission of a game piece and when it appears on their game board (provided that The Game’s server confirms that the game piece has been collected). On episode days (Wednesdays) players should allow twelve (12) hours for a submitted piece to appear on their game board (again, provided that The Game’s server confirms that the game piece has been collected) and to ensure it is available before all players’ game boards lock (“Show Mode”) at 8:45 PM (ET). Note: confirmation of collection (or error text message) element of The Game only applies to photo game piece submission; for game pieces accessible via The Game specific banner ad or hotlink, collection of game piece occurs simultaneously with submission. “Photo” Game Pieces should not be assumed to be in play unless and until the player has received a confirmation e-mail or SMS message. Sponsor and its agencies assume no responsibility for delays as a result of wireless or on-line network difficulties including entry attempts from wireless carriers that do not support photo messaging services, traffic congestion or other technological circumstance/limitation of any kind.
SCORING:
Game Piece Scoring:
Players will earn 100 points for every game piece they collect, not including the four starter game pieces.
Episode Scoring:
Every time a Premiere Episode of
The Sopranos
is broadcast on A&E (tentatively scheduled for Wednesdays beginning at 9 PM ET/8C) each player will earn points based on the pieces in their collection and the current arrangement of those pieces on their game board (“Episode Scoring”). The graphic representing each collected piece is identical for all players. By default, pieces are arranged in the order in which they were collected, starting from the upper left-hand square of the grid (“Default Configuration”). Before each Episode, players will be able to re-arrange their pieces on the game board, as they see fit, based on what they think will happen in the next Premiere Episode; (which characters, objects and settings will figure most prominently in that weeks Premiere Episode(s)). The game board will lock at 8:45 pm (ET) (5:45 PM PT) on the day of a Premiere Episode and remain locked for the duration of both the East Coast and West Coast broadcasts of the Premiere Episodes (approximately 3:00 AM ET) (“Show Mode”). Players will not be able to re-arrange game pieces during Show Mode. Players can only earn points for game pieces that are locked on their board in a particular arrangement at the start of Show Mode. By clicking and dragging, the player can select any game piece in their collection and move it to any other empty square on the game board. Certain squares will be designated as bonus squares. These squares will have a different background and will be marked with “X2” and “X3” indicating that pieces located in these squares will score double or triple. When a Premiere Episode of
The Sopranos
is broadcast on A&E, players can watch their pieces light up and score points based on the actions and events of the show in real-time. For example – if a player has the Tony piece in their collection, every time Tony appears on screen, during a Premiere Episode, that piece will light up and score 10 points. A player will continue to earn 10 points for the Tony piece for every 2 seconds he consistently appears on screen. Lighting up of game pieces on the game board is for informational purposes only and may not reflect that player’s actual score until final accumulation and accounting of points by the Game Server, the central server that will operate the game. The way that pieces are arranged on the game board affects how many points are scored. Pieces that are next to each other (vertically or horizontally only) will score more points and they will light up at the same time. So if the Tony piece is next to the Cigar piece, they will both score double points (20 points for each piece) every time Tony and a Cigar appear on screen at the same time (for example, Tony is smoking a Cigar on screen). If you arrange Tony, the Cigar and the Gold Chain pieces next to each other and they appear together a player will earn triple points (30 points for each piece). A Player’s actual score is calculated by the Game Server. Each score will be displayed in “real time,” synchronized to the Episode broadcast in the player’s time zone but the official score is kept by the Game Server. A player’s score is not affected by whether or not he/she is logged-into the web site: You do not have to be logged-in to the web site to score points. By participating, you agree to abide by and be bound by the Sponsor’s determination as to whether Points are scored and/or the number of Points scored in conjunction with the airing of Premiere Episodes of
The Sopranos
on A&E; Sponsor’s determinations as to scoring of Points being final and binding in all respects.
Retroactive Scoring:
If one or more Premiere Episodes are broadcast between the time a player collects pieces and when they complete their registration, then after they complete their registration the system will calculate the players score as if they had registered immediately and left their pieces in the Default Configuration during the “missed” Premiere Episodes. However, in such instances players are only eligible for the overall Contest and prospective weekly prizes; players will not be eligible for any past weekly content prizing.
Player Rankings:
At the conclusion of each
Premiere Episode, The Game homepage will contain rankings for the Top 5 overall players and Top 5 weekly players based on the high scores. Rankings are for informational purposes only and are not considered final until confirmed by Sponsor.
About Points:
Points are only valid for purposes of The Game as per these Official Rules and may only be used in a manner consistent with these Official Rules. Points have no cash value and are not redeemable or exchangeable for cash or credit. Points credited to a player cannot be transferred, sold, bartered or auctioned to another player
